The vision of the Washington State Food Protection Task Force is to:
Identify and address food and feed safety issues within Washington State;
Provide food safety and food defense education opportunities to all stakeholders;
and provide a forum to enhance communication and strengthen partnerships amongst public health partners.
The Washington State Food Protection Task Force (FPTF) operates through a cooperative agreement funding received from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FPTF pulls together all levels of government: federal, state, and local to work together to identify and address food protection issues in Washington State.
Food – Feed – Produce
Member agencies have expertise in food, feed, produce, epidemiology, laboratory, animal health, environment, and public health.
Mission:
- Identify and address food, feed, and produce safety issues within Washington
- Provide food, feed, produce safety and defense education opportunities
- Provide a forum to enhance communication and strengthen partnerships among regulatory agencies, industry, academia, and local government
Current Goals:
- Maintain a statewide Food Emergency Response Plan (FERP)
- Maintain a statewide Food Emergency Response Resource Guide (FERRG)
- Enhance communication and collaboration among WA regulatory laboratories
- Serve as a forum for laws and regulations that impact multiple regulatory stakeholders
- Build outreach and awareness for the public and industry of the food and feed regulatory agencies in Washington State
- Provide information on food and feed safety topics important to industry, academia, consumers and FPTF participants
